Creative Labs Audigy 2 ZS with Vista Build 5384

I cannot get my Creative Labs Audigy 2 ZS working with Windows Vista Build 5384. I've tried the KX-project drivers but they just don't work for me. Does anyone know if either Microsoft or Creative Labs will be releasing any drivers soon? I only want something basic!
Thanks,
Fork.

If your internet connection is working in Windows Vista, I suggest you try obtaining the drivers through Windows Update. Click Start > All Programs > Windows Update > Turn on Windows Update. A list of available updates will then be downloaded, you will have the option to view them, do so and check off the appropriate drivers you need and click Install. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "Fork" wrote in message

Thanks, but Windows Update isn't suggesting any driver updates for me. Do you have any other suggestions? Creative Labs hardware is pretty standard stuff after all!

Have you tried the Creative beta drivers for the Audigy series released last November?

THey don't work on the new build. I've tried using XP64 drivers as they

usually work but no joy this time. They're shown as correctly installed but there's no audio using the speaker jack.

I really find this ludicrous on Creative's part. They are THE sound card manufacturer, and they can't even BOTHER to get some beta drivers together? But then again, they have never been too "creative" in driver developement anyway. Their updqtes are few and far between - even on current hardware.
The NOVEMBER drivers DON'T work. All I get is beeps and/or crackle coming out of my speakers. It's NOT November, it's 7 months later! I am foregoing Vista because I cannot stand a SILENT PC.

I don't even get the Beta driver installed! It Crashes on install and gives me the blue screen! And the WDM drivers are not supporting more than Stereo. Anyone a solution?

Have you tried the latest drivers from Creative? I got my Audigy 2 ZS running using the beta drivers posted on the Creative website. Did not have any problems at all.

I'm having sound issues as well, and this may help others though my problem isn't fixed.
What I have: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Windows Vista Beta 2 32bit Creative Labs Beta Drivers from November Current Creative Labs Windows XP Drivers
Problem: Input audio (from a microphone) is scratch and can't be listened to. Audio Playback is half and half. Sometimes it's scratch and unlistenable, and sometimes it's crystal clear. Through my headphones, it's always bad, sometimes it's 50/50 with my speakers. If I open an MP3, it's scratchy as hell. If I pause it and play again, it comes out clear. I can't determine why, either way.
I was able to install the beta drivers. The current XP did error out on me during the installation and even blue-screened on me, and when it rebooted it found new hardware and bluescreened again. The third time I just hit cancel on the install of the new device, and the audio works (But with no change in the above symptoms.)
My benefit is that I can play battlefield 2 with audio and listen to MP3's if I pause and replay. Hope I could shed some light, but if not at least your not alone and there's another with problems added to the list.

Fork,
Please see the Creative FAQ on Vista drivers: http://dmzweb3.europe.creative.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=941,E=0000000000128886321,K=9850,Sxi=0,VARSET=ws:http://us.creative.com/,case=14186
I too have a Audigy 2 ZS that is not working properly. The beta drivers on Creative's site are for Vista BETA1, so they do not function properly in BETA2. I installed the BETA1 drivers anyway just to see if I could get some functionality - I can. However, the Creative sound control does not work at all and instead I have to use Windows sound control (which resets to the maximum volume every time I restart). Additionally, after each restart the Creative programs tries to "finish up installation" but apparently never succeeds.
I agree Creative dropped the ball on this one. It's unfortunate we have to wait for working drivers - but at least they're aware of the problem.

The *old* Audigy beta drivers *do* work with the CPP build, Andre (and others); I use them myself with the CPP.

By "work" do you mean like make-shift, kinda-sorta work like I described in my post below or do you mean the driver and sound control work like they did in XP?
If so, where exactly did you find these drivers because the Vista beta driver I downloaded from Creative doesn't work (generally speaking). Of course, I'm using Vista x86.

Just giving this thread a bump since the problem hasn't been solved yet..=)

Well everytime I try and install a creative driver the driver installer from Creative now tells me that I'm not running Windows Vista and I need to upgrade to it. Well I'm sitting here using it. Any ideas I'm not sure if I corrupted a file that the installer is checking or something. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Which version of Vista are you running, 32 or 64 bit?
I was able to install the XP64 bit Creative drivers and get them to work. It took installing them twice but I got basic sound. With the audio console you can get all of your speakers to put out sound but I'm not sure that it was true surround sound just all speakers working.
It appears I'm one of the lucky ones that have been able to install the Creative beta 1 drivers on beta 2 32 bit Vista and get them to work. I didn't do anything special. Again just basic sound. When I tried to switch the setting in Media Player or on Vista to anything other than stereo the sound started to crackle and hiss.

I have tried this and do not get any downloads from update site. I too have a problem with the drivers for Vista from the Creative Website. The program keeps telling me I don't have Vista installed (and I do). Any suggestions? -- Mike MLG

Hey Charles
Been there and done that. I deleted the current driver that I had and then installed the XP 64 drivers and everything went well except that I had no sound. So I re-installed the VIsta drivers again and to my amazement the sound came out and is working gerat. Hope it works with you

I tried reinstalling the beta drivers from the Creative Website about 3 times but no sound whatsoever. This goes for RC2, RC1 it works fine. No fun if there's no sound, so I'm going to delete.
On the whole, Vista is more bother than anything else at this point in time. Lots of software (burning, antivirus) doesn't work and there's no support for my sound card or for my pinnacle TV card.
Rubbish beta. Won't test again. Next time i'll install on a virtual machine so I can DELETE it all again!

To install Creative drivers in Vista you gotta go through the headings of this newsgroup and find out how other people got Creative drivers to work to give sound on their Vista. There's a number of steps to do, so it's not all that simple. For me I couldn't get my Audigy to work on my Vista RC2 until I tried installing Creative drivers for XP 64 bit. As for antivirus Avast works on Vista RC2 and it's free.
